On Snow

Although our winters in the Highlands are getting less predictable, when the snow does come it really shows off our mountains to their very best.  With ski centres at Cairngorm (38 miles), The Lecht (50 miles) and Aonach Mhor (56 miles), Inverness is a great place to base yourself for a snowsports holiday as you can easily travel to whichever centre has the best snow conditions on the day.  You can book a winter break with confidence that if the snow lets you down there is still a fantastic range of other activities available all year round to keep you occupied.

Inverness-shire is also a great place to base yourself for winter mountaineering exploits.  Several companies offer winter skills training and guided winter hillwalks.  With ranges such as the Fannichs, the Cairngorms, Glen Affric and Ben Wyvis all within an hours drive the possibilities are endless.  Add in good transport links and some great pubs and restaurants to help pass the longer winter nights and you are close to winter heaven!
