Mountain biking is one of the most popular outdoor activities and there’s no better place to try this exciting sport than in the beautiful landscape around Inverness.

Forestry Commission Scotland, along with other public and private sector organisations have supported and facilitated the construction of mountain bike trails of such high quality that IMBA (the International Mountain Bicycling Association) has awarded Scotland an A+ in the ‘global superstar’ category for two consecutive years – a feat as yet unaccomplished by any other nation.

In addition to the man-made trail centres around Inverness, such as the Learnie Red Rock trail, the wild local landscape offers a wealth of unmarked trails to suit beginners as well as more experienced mountain bikers, but how do you know exactly where to go and which trails are for you?
