Bird Shooting

One of the most popular country sports in Scotland. The blue ribbon is Grouse shooting starting on the ‘Glorious 12th' (12th August). There are several different disciplines:

  Rough; which is walking over different types of ground shooting what ever pops up (within season)

  Driven; where the birds are driven to your position by beaters with dogs and

  Walk up shooting; where you walk over mainly heather moor for a particular species - Pheasant, Partridge

   or Grouse etc.

Prices vary on the types of quarry and times of year, but bird shooting is neither as elitist nor as expensive as most people think.
